What's up school

EXPLORE, EDUCATE, INSPIRE

Discovering and sharing pedagocial practices across Europe!

What’s up school is a learning expedition about education led by us, Clementine & Marie, two French business school students.

We conducted a two-month field study in various European schools to discover innovative teaching practices and school concepts!

Our goal is to share our observations with education players around the world, to inspire them and to help them discover successful concepts from abroad.

We want to encourage cooperation between teachers from all over the world so that together they can build the school of tomorrow!

OBSERVATION

Education is a major issue in today’s world, and we’re looking to improve it on our own scale. With the average level of education in Europe in decline, and society changing rapidly, cooperation between countries and teachers is key to promoting a more inclusive, fair education, in tune with the world around us.

OUR APPROACH

What’s up school is about meeting hundreds of players in the world of education, who are committed day after day to the finest of missions: enabling children to grow up to become happy, responsible adults who contribute to tomorrow’s world. So, for 2 months, we decided to go into the field to interview people who promote innovative teaching techniques (teachers, principals…), and to observe their concrete implementation in classrooms.

RESULTS

To share our discoveries and encourage cooperation between players in the educational world in Europe, we’re sharing our findings on this website. It’s a reflection of our adventure, our dive into the world of education, and above all of the beautiful discoveries and encounters that have inspired us. Whether you’re part of the educational world or interested in these issues, you’ve come to the right place. Through our interviews, join us on a journey of discovery through Europe’s education system and its key players.

What is What’s up school for us ?

It is said that “travel broadens the mind” our adventure was much more than that. By visiting all those extraordinary schools we had the unique chance to meet with wonderful teachers dedicated to educate and inspire young people to become happy and responsible adults that contritbute to the society. It truly helped us understand how schools adapt to a fast changing society, and even which world people want to build.

What’s up school is above all a human adventure. Meeting people involved in education in different countries to see the reality of education today from the field. The main idea behind this project is to understand how secondary school has evolved in relation to what we experienced as children in France.

Our findings !

We found that European education systems have both similarities and differences. Some systems are still very traditional, while others are becoming more modern by the day. We also observed the impact of each country’s culture on its education system, which is something to be taken into account when comparing two countries in terms of education. Generally speaking, the schools we visited face similar problems, such as the recruitment of teachers in key subjects (mathematics, languages, etc.), the difficulty of digitizing school curricula, the need to match the knowledge taught to the changing nature of our societies, the difficult balance to find between theory and practice…

Then, thanks to our field study, we discovered a lot of fascinating and innovative players and concepts to deal with these issues.

To share our discoveries with you, we have decided to write articles about the schools and teachers who inspire us the most which you can find right below!
